MY STORY

I started out as an apprentice, learning the craft of barbering, with my uncle when I was just 12 years old. In El Salvador, in the early 1970’s, it was very common for families to steer their children into learning a trade. By age 15, while still at school, I worked alongside my older sister, who owned and operated her own beauty salon. Doing so, I found that I had a knack for using my hands in creative work and was eager to learn and increase my skills. 

On the academic side, I enjoyed learning foreign languages. English was that “ace card” that gave me the good fortune and possibility to immigrate to the USA. In El Salvador, I worked full time at a bank handling foreign affairs, I assisted my sister in the salon and I studied at night. During my second year of University, I was awarded a scholarship to come and study in the United States at a college in Georgia. After graduating from college, and gaining US resident status, I worked in the professional world as a computer software technician for many years. I excelled in this area and gained experience as a trainer, manager and a project leader, with an emphasis on customer-service skills.

However, I was always drawn back to my passion and the occupation that I learned many years back, hair styling. I returned to formally study and in 2010 Il Divo was founded. Since then I have continued to further my knowledge and skills, attending many workshops and conferences to ensure I am using only the best and most up-to-date techniques and products for my clients.
